Paolo Coriani

Italy

Paolo Coriani has a special interest in 19th and early 20th-century Spanish guitars. In 1993, he participated in José Luis Romanillos’ guitar-making course, where he encountered the iconic 1912 Manuel Ramírez guitar used by Andrés Segovia in his performances. This instrument became a source of endless inspiration for Coriani and a goal in his career as a luthier.

Through his deep study of printed materials, books, photographs, and articles related to Manuel Ramírez, Coriani gained vast knowledge and experience in Spanish instruments, as well as an understanding of the sound mechanisms behind each guitar. While restoring historical instruments, Coriani focuses on producing sounds as close as possible to the original, rather than simply copying the instruments. In doing so, he carefully analyzes the maker's intent, and from an aesthetic perspective, incorporates his unique design elements into his guitars, making them truly his own.
