Manuel Ramirez (1864 - 1916)

Spain

After Torres, the most important figure in the history of Spanish guitar is undoubtedly Manuel Ramírez. His instruments carried forward and developed Torres' legacy, playing a pivotal role in establishing the Spanish guitar as a solo instrument in the early 20th century. In his workshop, Manuel and his apprentices worked together and engaging in discussions and research while sharing ideas on guitar making. His techniques were passed down to legendary luthiers such as Santos Hernández, Enrique Garcia, and Domingo Esteso.

Manuel also had a significant influence on Hermann Hauser I, whose instruments Andrés Segovia used for many years in concerts. Even 100 years after his death, many luthiers continue to study Ramírez's instruments, seeking the quintessential Spanish sound through his designs.

In Partita, you can find both original instruments by Manuel Ramírez and those that have attempted to recreate his masterpieces.
