Jean Marquet

Belgium

Jean Marquet, who had been playing the guitar for years, became fascinated with the instrument after purchasing a guitar by Ryoji Matsuoka about a decade ago. As he observed the guitar and marveled at its details, he began to wonder, "How did someone start making something like this?" His search for answers led to even more questions, ultimately drawing him into the world of guitar-making. He studied guitar-making techniques at the CMB Liuteria School in Belgium under Karel Dedain and Walter Verreydt, and upon graduation, he received the Golden Finger Plane Award, given to the student with the highest quality and most exceptional work of the year. After further training in Walter’s workshop, Jean began his career as a guitar maker. In addition to guitar-making, he has been actively involved in collaborating with luthiers and musicians, leading various initiatives and exchanges in the community.
