캐Born in Canada, John Ray settled in Granada in 1989 to pursue guitar-making. He soon realized that Granada was a hub for world-class luthiers, allowing him to learn a great deal from the local masters. He received excellent lessons from Johnathan Hinves, José Ángel Chacón, and Antonio Marín's mentor, and he particularly benefited from the generous support and guidance of Rolf Eichinger, a German guitar maker and friend who had immigrated to Granada. Additionally, John restored many guitars made by great masters such as Miguel Rodríguez, Vicente Arias, Manuel Ramírez, and Salvador Ibáñez.
