Herman Hauser (1882 - 1952)

Spain

Hermann Hauser I was a German folk instrument maker who initially crafted instruments like the 'Zither'. Inspired by the performances of Miguel Llobet and Andrés Segovia, he turned his attention to guitar making. Drawing influence from Llobet's Torres guitar and Segovia's Manuel Ramírez instrument, he began creating guitars in the Spanish style.

Andrés Segovia performed worldwide and made numerous recordings with Hauser I's 1937 guitar, which is considered one of the greatest instruments in history. Hauser I's craftsmanship and techniques have been passed down to subsequent generations, continuing through Hauser II and III.
