Daniel Stark

Germany

Daniel Stark, one of the prominent luthiers in Germany, graduated from the Westsächsische Hochschule for instrument making and began his own workshop. He primarily creates instruments with modern grid bracing and double-top construction, and recently has been studying traditional classical instruments such as those by Arias and Torres. As a result, he has also started making guitars in the deep, majestic style of the Old Spanish tradition. While most double-top guitars are made by inserting Nomex, an aramid fiber, between two thin soundboards or using lightweight, fine-grain spruce for the top, Stach's double-top design is unique. He uses a grid bracing structure and attaches two thin soundboards, maximizing the natural resonance of the instrument.

His instruments are played by numerous renowned musicians, including French maestro Gérard Abiton and German guitarist Hubert Käppel.
