Christian Koehn (1976 - Current)

Germany

Christian Koehn, after completing his guitar making studies at the Newark School of Violin Making in the UK, began his career as a professional luthier. In 2007, he opened his own workshop in his hometown of Berlin with his wife, violin maker Thilde van Norel. Early in his career, he was inspired by Spanish master guitars, and later, his work was significantly influenced by the guitars of French luthiers Daniel Friederich and Robert Bouchet. Through the restoration of several master guitars, Koehn refined and developed his own tonal signature. His work includes two main models: one based on traditional solid-top construction and another following the modern double-top method typical of Germany. His instruments are known for their powerful, rich tone that is both warm and clear, with a stable balance between bass and treble, offering a comfortable playing experience.
