Rene Baarslag (1948 - Current)
Spain
Born in 1948 in Heerlen, Netherlands, René Baarslag began playing classical guitar in his teenage years. In 1977, he visited Granada and began his apprenticeship at the workshop of the renowned classical guitar maker Antonio Marín Montero. He also occasionally trained at the workshop of Robert Bouchet in France. Afterward, he established his own workshop and, together with his wife Ana Espinosa, has been crafting guitars in Granada ever since.
Rather than strictly adhering to the traditional Granada or Madrid styles, René has focused on continuously innovating his instruments within the framework of traditional guitar-making techniques. His approach reflects a desire to push the boundaries of craftsmanship while maintaining the essence of the classical guitar.
