Otto Vowinkel

Netherlands

Otto Vowinkel was inspired by Irving Sloane's book "The Structure of the Classical Guitar" and embarked on his journey as a guitar maker in 1984. He quickly developed his own style while embracing traditional guitar-making methods, and his growth as a luthier was rapid. In his career, he met fellow luthier Alex 'Alejandro' van der Horst (1959-2009), and they began working together as collaborators.

Together, they shared ideas and explored the creation of the ideal guitar, engaging in artistic experimentation and research on achieving a flexible tone, quick responsiveness, and high-quality sound. Their collaboration continued until Alejandro's passing in 2009, but the results of their shared research continue to influence Otto Fovingkel's guitars to this day.
